On October 4th, a group of volunteers from XOLogic, including Justin, Dean, Mike, Tyler, Jason, Jen, Elisabeth, Darrin, Ben, Candace, James, Shane, Rourke, Carlena, Derek, Shandiin, and Adam, spent a day at Tiny Tim’s Foundation. Organized by the “XO Gives Back” squad, the team was eager to lend a hand at the foundation, which has been dedicated to creating and distributing hand-made wooden toy cars to children in need across the globe for over two decades.
Tiny Tim’s was inspired by a simple, yet profound experience of its founder, Alton Thacker. While he was visiting a developing country, he gave a toy car to a child. The child didn’t know what to do with it because he had never received a toy before. Alton decided to make wooden toy cars to donate to children all over the world. The foundation operates on a straightforward principle: utilize spare wood and volunteer time to create toys, ensuring no child is deprived of the simple joy it brings. With a track record of over 1 million toy cars distributed worldwide, the foundation has been a beacon of joy for numerous children and a testament to the power of collective, compassionate effort.
The day was super busy, with the XOLogic team splitting up and tackling all of the tasks it takes to produce the toy cars. Mike and Jason took to drilling, ensuring each car had its signature windows – while Dean, Shandiin, and Ben focused on sanding the cars to a smooth finish. The rest of the team painted faces on the cars or traced patterns onto wood, preparing them for the next phase of toy creation. Together, the XO team successfully drilled, sanded, and painted over 600 cars, each one a future source of joy for a child somewhere in the world.
The collaboration between XOLogic and Tiny Tim’s not only resulted in hundreds of new toys ready to be sent out but also exemplified the positive impact that companies can have when they step out of the office and into the community. It was a day of simple actions, collective effort, and the shared belief that every child deserves a bit of joy, even if it’s a simple toy wooden car.
